Welcome!
The Center
for Dance is a community school, which encourages cooperation, not
competition. Our goal is to nurture in our students a sense of
pride in their own artistic voice, by combining age-appropriate
strong technical training with lifelong tools for building
self-esteem and confidence in their own creative expression. This
year we are celebrating our 22nd year serving the
community.
Our Dance program
runs from September
through June. Students may enroll at anytime during the school
year. Our tuition structure is based on 37 weeks of instruction,
payable in ten equal payments. Tuition is based on the number of
hours a student dances per week and is paid monthly, by the 5th,
for the following month. Returning students may choose to pay
September tuition at the time of registration in June to avoid the
double payment in September, however, students registering in
September must pay both September and October tuition at that time
since tuition is paid a month in advance. An annual registration
fee of $25 per family is paid at time of registration. Both the
registration fee and tuition are non-refundable. Late payments are
assessed a $10 late fee. Returned checks are assessed a $25 fee.
Our Preschool Music & Dance Program
runs on eleven-week sessions:

September 15- December 7
Winter ~ January 5 – March 21 Spring ~ March 23-June

Additional Studio Policies and
Information
Studio Communications:
Email is the best way to communicate with the office regarding
tuition, billing, etc. Please direct all questions of this nature
to the office manager at
centerfordance@gmail.com.
Questions regarding classroom matters are best directed to your
student’s teacher on observation days or via email. (Your teacher
will provide her email address at the start of the term.) Be sure
to check the whiteboards and the counter area for new information
every time you come to class.
Observation Days:
These are scheduled for the last class of each month. This is a
great time to see what your child is learning and how they are
progressing. It is also a good time to talk with the instructor and
ask any questions you may have. We ask parents to please wait for
their students in the waiting areas during all other class times.
Advancement:
Every student should feel challenged. Students will move up when
they have mastered the skills appropriate to their level. In
general, students in levels Intro-I who attend class regularly
throughout the school year will advance annually. Once a student
reaches level II, they will usually remain at this level for 2
years. Placement in levels III and above require placement by
instructor.
Make-up classes:
In case of absence, students may attend any class at their level to
make-up the missed class.
We do not prorate or refund tuition for
missed classes due to illness, vacation, or snow days.
Snow Days:
We
generally follow the Issaquah school district regarding studio
closure for snow. However, we all know how the weather conditions
can be very different just a few miles apart, so please call the
studio to find out if classes are cancelled due to inclement
weather.
Upper Level Students:
The Center for Dance takes injury prevention seriously. Proper
technique is essential in maintaining strength, flexibility and in
the overall development and training of the dancer. Therefore, all
advanced students must take a minimum of two classes per week at the
Center for Dance. Ballet IV and above must attend class both
Tuesdays and Thursdays. Advanced Jazz and Advanced Hip Hop students
must attend another class weekly in either Ballet or Jazz (at any
level, beginning or intermediate). This policy does not apply to
Advanced Tap students due to the different nature of this dance
format.
